Award-winning author Yardena Schwartz will launch her new book, Ghosts of a Holy War: The 1929 Massacre in Palestine That Ignited the Arab-Israeli Conflict. In conversation with Rabbi Sarit Horwitz of Beth Shalom Synagogue.
This book features David Shainberg, native Memphian who was killed in the Hebron Massacre in 1929.

Rabbi Akiva Males will discuss the history and  mission of Operation Benjamin, the organization devoted to preserving the  memories of  American-Jewish soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the cause of freedom. Operation Benjamin aims to locate Jewish personnel at American  millitary cemeteries all over the world who, for various reasons, were buried  under markers  incorrectly representing their religion and heritage.  Memphians Jeanne and Dr. Bruce Alpert will share their personal experience and the role of Operation Benjamin as they discovered the fate of Jeanne's family member, Lt. Joseph M. Sugarmam, Jr.
* In honor of Veteran's  Day, American veterans in  attendence will be recognized at this program.
